Mrs. Ava Thomas
Age: 30-40 years old
Hometown: New York City
Current Location: London, England
Occupation: Newly promoted editor at a high fashion Magazine
Personal: Ava Thomas has finally reached her long term goal of becoming editor at a high fashion magazine in London, England. After moving to London from her home in New York at the age of 23, Ava has been working hard to rise in a competitive industry. It took her ten years from her start at the magazine to achieve the highest position. Now, at age 33, as a reward to herself, Ava is purchasing a small lake side cottage in Poland. At this house she plans on taking time off of work during the summer and on holidays. She plans to leave behind the city life to destress by the beach drinking tea, reading books, cooking, swimming, and working on her other projects not realted to work. The home she has in London, which she shares with long time fiance John Chambers (Lawyer), has a bit of both hers and John’s style to it. Originally the space was John’s bachelor pad until Ava moved in. Compromises on the interior design were made and the flat is now a shared home. While the summer home will be a vacation spot for both Ava and John, Ava has requested to put a personal touch to one room: the bathroom.
Age: mid 30’s
Personal: Single, no kids. Wealthy businesswoman. She’s a CEO to the company her father started. He passed away, so now it’s hers.
Location: Secluded house by nature, a house where she can get away from the hassle of the city and of business.
Wants an unexpected but subtle touch of nature within the bathroom. The bathroom would be comfortable to her, but may be uninviting to others thanks to its minimalistic design. Black, white, grey colors. She wants the bathroom elements such as the bathtub and sink to be very geometrical, very rectangular. Very modern and sophisticated.
Doesn’t mind spending money to get the exact bathroom she wants.
Mr. Jack Quail
Occupation: Marketing Executive
Enjoys: Water sports, cooking and photography
Jack is single and age 32. He is tall. Jack appreciates design, but does
not have time to design the room himself.
Mr. and Mrs. Ackermann, a couple with 2 children.
Age: mid 40’s – the children are 14 and 16 What: They have a busy life, and both have a career. They also have a lot of social commitments, and they have their children off course. But on Sunday they are trying to have their ‘relax-day’. It’s their escape and quality time with each other. Where: Belgium, on the countryside, just outside the city Antwerp because they work in this city. Their bathroom is attached to their bedroom. The children have their own bathroom. What do they want: a place to relax, just taking a long bath or showering in a nice environment where they can escape from their busy lives. –
Age: mid 30s
Location: Harrison outside of New York City
Occupation: Successful business owner who paints landscapes as a hobby
Inspiration for bathroom: Renaissance time period (in particular Pieta by Michelangelo). Renaissance means rebirth and a bathroom is a place where you can go to reinvent or “rebirth” yourself. It is a place used to relax, compose yourself in a certain manner, create a new look for youself out of a variety of products, but also a place to let everything else go and breathe for youself. In the bathroom you can strip yourself of the days stresses and focus on something else or even a place where you may do some of your best thinking.
Feel of the room: Clean and symbol yet elegant and sophisticated. Modern but with a vintage/antique feel to it. Centerpoint is to be the bathtub.
Colors: Still in question-gold, sea blues/greens, or burnt reds
Background: Recently bought a house outside of NYC where she works and is looking to redo the bathroom as the first big project in the new house. She spends a lot of time traveling to and from the city and is constantly working. On her free time she paints landscapes in her studio/shed out back. She loves Renaissance artwork and wants her bathroom to be inspired by the time period. Everything in her house has a story, every room tells a tale and has a unique purpose. The bathroom is where she spends most of her time when she is home. She spends mornings there to shower and get ready for her day. In the evenings she goes there to unwind and destress by taking long baths. To her the bathroom is a santuary where she can either get all dolled up or clear unwanted toxins from her body and take herself apart basically (ie. take off makeup, throw her hair up). She wants this room to allow her to do all of this but all the while providing her with an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere that she can’t wait to spend time in everyday. The bath is to be the centerpoint of the room. To create the atmosphere she wants, she would like a mix of vintage furnishings that still allow the room to look contempory and homey.
The young couple
A young married couple from New York City who were both born and raised in Manhattan. Although they have traveled to many places around the world they have never llived anywhere else. The husband is a 30 years old stock broker name Isaac and his wife is a 27 year old news anchor name Shawnie. The couple has been together for 10 years but has never lived together, they each had there own apartment. However, they just got married about 6months ago and decided it was time to move in together. They decided the best location for them would be Los Angeles California because of business purposes. Although this couple is very busy the time that they do have they like to enjoy it together on the beach, taking walks in the park, white water rafting or collecting Andy Warhol paintings. They dont have kids at the moment and they dont really plan on having any but there not sure what the future may hold. The couple is looking for a spacious, natural but very detailed bathroom that has an amazzing glass window so they can look at the landscape of LA everymorning. They would like there bathroom to be very spacious and have two rooms in it. One room for the toilet and mirror and the other for bathing or showering. They would like the toilet and mirror room to be well lit with accients of there favorite colors which is pink and blue. However, they would like the bathing room to be more a a nature and natural tone. They would like chandaliers and chairs in both rooms. They would like to keep the tiles very simple with a hint of gold. There would like for the doors and arches of the door ways to remind them of Italy where they both studied abroad and met, also white with a hint of gold. They would like everything to be his and hers.
