In the class of Product Design fall 2010 professor Andrea Parigi selected a project to be developed and produced. The choice fall on Allison Wood ‘Drop’ lamp. The class followed the production. First a plaster mould was formed, then a ceramic folder has been placed. Now we are waiting to cook the lamp with the help of Isabella Fazzo (LdM Ceramics professor) in the LdM ceramic oven. We keep you informed.

When I first started designing this lamp I was attracted to the idea of simply “light”.

The word “light” can be described in a variety of ways, such as, a standard light bulb, “seeing the light” when you’re about to die, in terms of weight, or regarding brightness, etc.

The final design concept is a combination of the stereotypical thought of light bulb with the vague description of the word “light”.

It has been shocking to hear that my design is actually being produced and will be displayed throughout Lorenzo de Medici.

After being here for a year and half now, I am very honored that I will be able to leave behind a little bit of myself in this school that has taught me so much.
